The RGD Branding Awards recognize and celebrate the best in branding and identity design and provides an opportunity to designers of all levels to showcase their work, and gain industry-wide recognition.
Strides Toronto tasked us to integrate resources on Black heritage, curated by their internal task force, into an accessible, online library for youth aged 2 to 15+ and their parents, guardians, and teachers. The aim was to maintain the library experience while ensuring user-friendly navigation. With distinct rooms capturing Black culture through patterns and colours, the resulting Black Excellence Community Library website is warm, engaging and a pleasure to navigate. Illustrations of librarians guide users, enhancing the navigation, while the homepage floor plan mirrors the experience of entering a building. A variety of patrons are depicted throughout the website, fostering inclusivity and connection.
Submitting this work was very exciting. We knew it was something special. We’re so proud not only to have been recognized as thought leaders and experts in the field, but to also bring recognition and more visibility to this remarkable project.
Special thanks to the Strides team for developing the content and trusting us to bring their vision to life. Also to Jaida Salmon, for her collaboration, creating the beautiful illustrations throughout.
