With its advanced natural language processing capabilities, ChatGPT can assist in a variety of tasks, including answering questions, generating text, and even engaging in conversations.
When I first heard about ChatGPT, I was immediately intrigued by its potential as a virtual web development assistant. So why not put it to the test to see just how much it could do? Spoiler alert: it blew my mind, even with its occasional funky responses! I should mention that there are two versions of ChatGPT, one that’s free and another that’s premium and has even more cool features (which I discovered while reading this article).
My first interaction with ChatGPT was when I asked if it could be my web development assistant. It replied, “Of course! I’d be happy to assist you with web development. What do you need help with?” And that was the beginning.
I started off asking for simple front-end code that I already knew, and ChatGPT aced it. Then I gradually worked my way up to more specific back-end questions like database operations and ChatGPT continued to impress me. Before I knew it, I was asking ChatGPT for advice on how to manage a bunch of work that needed to be done quickly, and it came through like a true virtual mentor.
All our codes for our projects get written in VSCode—an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). I was able to find a handy AI plugin that allows me to type prompts directly in the environment, giving me the code instantly, without having to switch between applications.
Of course, ChatGPT isn’t perfect. Since WordPress is my primary tool for developing most websites, I asked ChatGPT for some specific code, and while the response was okay, I was hoping for something more tailored. That’s when I discovered CodeWP, a similar AI tool specifically designed for WordPress. I was thrilled to find a virtual assistant that spoke the language of my preferred platform. The responses were just as quick as ChatGPT, while also being specific to WordPress and working for my needs without needing me to troubleshoot or tailor the AI’s answers.
On May 1, 2023, something game-changing happened: Elementor, my favorite builder within WordPress, introduced its own built-in AI assistant. The features of this AI are incredible, to say the least. It’s handy, efficient, and robust. It helps with writing and editing content, creating code snippets, and even functions based on what is built using Elementor. This tool is so intuitive and adaptive that it quickly became an invaluable addition to my toolset.
While the CodeWP has helped my workflow and problem solving within WordPress, Elementor’s AI assistant has reduced the time it takes me to build a website while also giving me the confidence to explore new features.
As we continue to journey deeper into the era of technology, AI is reshaping the landscape of web development and design, making our lives easier and more efficient. Tools like ChatGPT, CodeWP, and the AI assistant from Elementor are not merely innovations; they are becoming essential companions for my daily work and long-term projects. Moving forward, I plan to integrate them even more seamlessly into my workflow.
With the continuous support of AI, I can foresee a future where my tasks are not just simplified but are elevated to new creative heights. I’m excited to unlock new potential and embrace the opportunities that these tools present. Whether it’s troubleshooting code, generating content, or managing complex project tasks, I am confident that AI will continue to be an indispensable ally in my web development journey. These are not just tools—they are the new team members of the digital age.
